The X Scholarship

The X Scholarship, established in 2014, awards Princess Anne High School seniors with funds to supplement the costs of higher education. Scholarships are awarded each year during the Central Business District Association's annual Internship Day luncheon. Scholarship funds are generated through contributions from CBDX, CBDA and their members, along with donations from those supporting this cause. Donations to the X Scholarship fund have increased each year, allowing CBDX to enlarge the size of the awards as well as the number of recipients. Recipients are selected through an application process focused on students who demonstrate a passion for our region, particularly Virginia Beach, and the opportunities for growth here.

Alex P. Divaris Memorial Scholarship

The Alex P. Divaris Memorial Scholarship was established as a tribute to a special young man who left an indelible mark in our community.  Alex played a significant role in the formation and success of the CBDX , the “under-40”  young professionals division of the CBDA.  Alex was gifted at many things, but perhaps his greatest talent was his ability to lift-up and instill confidence in those around him.  His passion for mentorship, his commitment to community, and his active participation in the CBDA/PAHS Internship Day Program, led to the formation of the X-Scholarship.  Now administered through the Central Business District Foundation, X-Scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding Princess Anne High School seniors who participate in the CBDA/PAHS Internship Day Program.  The Alex P. Divaris Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually, as part of the X-Scholarship program, to a student who not only excels academically, but who also exhibits a strong commitment and desire to take an active role in the continued growth and progress of our business community.  If you would like to make a donation in Alex's name, please make a note in the memo section of your donation.  Thank you.
